There’s this guy I’m friends with. We’ve actually been friends for years. Since we were five. At one point in time, we were kissing friends, but I think that’s just because it was convenient at the time for the both of us. It kind of didn’t mean anything. We just got caught up in the moment. That was 12 years ago. We go to the same church, since we were five. We both coach. We are both 33. He’s a good, Christian man. We are both heavily involved in servant-oriented jobs. There’s a lot of history there. But I’ve always kinda pushed back because I’m a little taller than him, he dips, I’m afraid his job won’t provide well if we were to pursue relationship, and there’s a history of him dating a very close friend of mine. That was his second love. In my dream, we were outside, at a park. People were pressuring and suggesting us to date, or really my friends were pressuring me to date him. I was laughing it off so I didn’t have to give them an answer. When our friends left, he started coming towards me. I began backing up, walking backwards. The faster he can towards me, the faster I walked/ran to keep the distance. I never turned my back to run, I just walked/ran backwards. Then I woke up, so I don’t know if I ever got caught.
Dreams often reflect our subconscious thoughts, feelings, and dilemmas, and they can reveal internal conflicts or desires that we might not be fully aware of in our waking life. Let's break down the elements of your dream to provide a comprehensive interpretation.
Setting - The Park:
Pressure from Friends:
Your Reaction - Laughing it Off and Walking Backward:
Symbolism of Not Turning Your Back:
Being Unsure About Getting Caught:
Overall, your dream seems to reflect an internal debate over the potential transformation of your friendship into something more romantic. It underscores the external pressures you may face and your ambivalence about how suitable this person is as a partner due to past experiences, lifestyle differences (such as dipping), and practical concerns about compatibility and provision.
Consider reflecting on what aspects you value most in a relationship and ponder if those align with the qualities you see in him. Engaging in open dialogue with this friend might also help to clarify feelings and intentions for both parties involved.
